The Sandlot

The little league kids come to the Sandlot and start insulting them. Ham and Philips start calling each other names and finally Ham says "You play ball like a girl!" Philips then challenges them to a game at their field at noon the next day. Of course the kids from the Sandlot win.

Answer: Chauncey Leopardi

Leopardi, born on June 14th, 1981, played Michael "Squints" Palledorous in "The Sandlot". Squints played third base and got his nickname due to the way he squinted his eyes all the time. Squints was surprised when he saw the amateur player in Smalls make a great catch in the outfield. This caused him to take off his glasses to make sure he was seeing things right and he said that Smalls was "alright". At a party, Squints told his sandlot friends a story about Mr. Mertle's past which was revealed later on in the movie to be inaccurate. After the pool incident (see Interesting Info section for question four), Squints worried that Wendy disliked him but she did not since she smiled and waved at him as he left. Leopardi starred in the movies "Houseguest", "The Opposite of Sex" and "Sticks and Stones".

Answer: The Jet

Smalls' narration says that after Benny "pickled the Beast" his reputation spread quickly and earned him the nickname "The Jet". Later, when he steals home in the pros, Smalls, now an announcer, makes the call, "The Jet stole home! The Jet stole home!"

Answer: 4th of July

They were only able to play a night game on the 4th of July because the sky was lit up with fireworks.

Answer: Tequila

While they're stepping onto the ride, you hear the four saxophones to play the tune to "Tequila!"

Answer: Bungee jumping

He pioneers'vents bungee jumping, which he experienced for the first time in a clever but ill-fated attempt to retrieve the "Babe Ruth baseball."

Answer: Vincent

Smalls later tells us that Squints and Wendy bought this drug store after they got married.

Answer: He lifts a fence off of him

When Benny reaches The Sandlot with the Beast in hot pursuit, he leaps back over the fence. The Beast does the same, and then the fence collapses on top of the dog, trapping him. Scotty saves the Beast and they become friends.

Answer: Tommy

Tommy (the repeat) was always repeating what Timmy said. I guess it was a brother thing.

Answer: Hercules

This is weird because Benny had called Babe Ruth "the Hercules of baseball", since he was "less than a god, but more than a man."

Answer: He crowded the plate

Mr. Mertle: "I used to crowd the plate so the strike zone would almost disappear. Pitchers hate that!"

He would eventually be stricken blind by being hit in the head with a baseball, ending his promising career.

Answer: That wimpy deer!

I love this part. Smalls was the one who asked who the Great Bambino was and they (his friends) all started giving a whole bunch of nicknames getting Smalls even more confused. Then he just lied and pretended to know who he was. Ham was the one who said, "That wimpy deer!"

Benny finally jumps over the fence and gets the ball for the sixth and only successful attempt.

Answer: Catcher

Personally, I don't think he was mobile enough to play anywhere else. He could chatter better than anyone on the team from behind the plate, though, getting inside his opponents' heads.

Hamilton: "If my dog were as ugly as you, I'd shave his butt and tell him to walk backwards."

Answer: L7 weenie

Squints called him a L7 weenie, and Yeah-yeah agreed. I felt so bad, they weren't even giving him a chance. I think he called him that because in baseball terms, number 7 is left field which is where Benny sent Smalls. Squints just added the L and the weenie part in himself. Also if you make an L and a 7 with your fingers and put them together, you get a square which is what they had called Smalls anyway.

Answer: Phillips

After hearing this, Phillips challenges the boys to a game. They accept and win.

Answer: The Heater

DeNunez: "This is the heater! I dare you to hit it!"

Despite this warning, Porter hits the pitch out of the park and over the fence for a home run.

Answer: left-center

Benny told Smalls to go to left-center. Smalls got lost on the way there, and Benny had to tell him to move. Then Squints called Smalls a square.

Answer: He went blind

"Baseball was life...and I was good at it. Real good. Then one day, a high fast one, and POW...lights went out."

Answer: People started reporting missing thieves

Squints claimed that the Beast was the best junkyard guard dog that ever lived. He ate junk thieves "Bones and all".

Answer: Squints

Benny had just helped Smalls learn how to throw and told Smalls to just stick out his glove and he would catch the ball, and that he(Benny) would do the rest. Benny: "Man, this is baseball. You gotta stop thinking. Just have fun."

Answer: The Dodgers

The older Benny is played by Mike Vitar's (young Benny) older brother (Pablo Vitar).

Answer: The Great Bambino

Bad Smalls, lying about knowing who the Great Bambino was. That's what basically got him into trouble.
